Cleaning user profiles on a Windows server or workstation environment is a complex process. Services, running processes, user permissions, credentials and lots of other factors have to be taken into account. To make sure Remote Profile Cleaner does what we promise we offer you to test Remote Profile Cleaner first.

To test Remote Profile Cleaner on a Windows Workstation no temporary activation key is needed. The unregistered version is limited to a maximum of 5 remote workstations but it will clean in the same way as a registered version.

To test Remote Profile Cleaner on a Windows Server, Windows Terminal Server or Network Resource environment temporary activation keys are available for free (company's, institutions and organisations only). Release 4 uses Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) services to inquire remote computers and for removal of profile information stored in the client computers registry (registry cleanup is mandatory for successfull removal of profiles on Windows Vista and Windows 7 based operating systems). Notice that for computers that are part of a windows domain WMI access to both the (remote) computer and domain controller is required. When updating from a previous release we advise to test this new release in a controlled environment.

How To Delete a User Profile in Windows (delprof.exe) This step-by-step article describes how to delete a user profile from a local computer. If you use this method, you delete the %SystemDrive%\Documents and Settings\Username folder that contains the user's My Documents folder, desktop settings, Start menu, favorites, and cookies. This method also deletes the profile from the ProfileList key in the registry. This procedure does not remove a user's ability to log back on to the same computer. Doing so creates a new %SystemDrive%\Documents and Settings\Username folder. This does not re-create the user's previous documents, desktop settings, Start menu, favorites, and cookies. Delprof is not available in the Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit. It is a command-line and gui utility that you can use to delete user profiles on a local or remote computers running Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003. Also, I've found a utility that you can use to delete user profiles remotely from your computer as long as you've got knowledge of an account and password that is an administrator on your remote PCs. Great for cleaning up profile problems without having to visit the remote site. There is a utility I use called "Remote profile cleaner", you can download a free trial version. I use to go through people user profiles and cleans them up. That remote profile cleaner is great! I'm going to leave it running overnight, while my machine does a new ghost build. In my team itself we have 890 employees. they will be using 300 machines round the clock. so, the profiles will be huge.
